Using position or reference point of an object, we can determine if a second object has moved, or is in motion.

This reference point is called a frame of reference.

For example, in this image, the frame of reference is the tree. The position of the car relative to the tree has changed from the first picture to second. Figure 2 shows the car having passed the tree, proving there has been motion.
